Cauchard was founded in 1948 by Michel Cauchard on the outskirts of the Paris region. First specialized in the design of cardboard storage bins for the automotive industry, the company distinguished itself by developing, creating and using ultra-resistant cartons for its customers.
Very quickly Michel Cauchard developed a practical and ultra-resistant archive box. Validated in 1959 by the Department of Armed Forces, the "Cauchard" box was born. The first major clients were the major ministries wishing to protect national treasures. The establishment at the national level then came through many departmental archives.
In 2010, Cauchard left his historic site of the Dallery Pass in the 10th arrondissement of Paris and moved to Saint Denis.
The family business remained under the direction of Rémy Cauchard, son of Michel Cauchard, until 2017.
Purchased in 2017 by the family paper group "Luquet & Duranton", Cauchard moved to Ardèche in Annonay, a "royal" paper town.
