Château Rauzan Gassies

Second Growth of the Margaux appellation in 1855

Known as the " Noble House of Gassies", Château Rauzan-Gassies - 2nd Classified Growth in 1855 located in Margaux appellation - finds its origins in the 14th century. But it was really in the 17th century that the winery started when Chevalier Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan created a prestigious vineyard: the Domaine de Rauzan.

For more than 80 years now, Château Rauzan-Gassies has belonged to the Quié family who are committed to perpetuating the work carried out by their predecessors and committing the property to virtuous and environmentally friendly agriculture. Located on the left bank of the river, this green setting is, through the richness of its biodiversity, a signatory of the Natura 2000 Charter.

Its vineyard, already planted with vines during the imperial classification of 1855, is spread over an elite terroir and extends over 30 hectares in the Margaux appellation and 30 hectares in the Haut-Médoc appellation. The close exchange that emerges today between man and nature allows us to work this terroir with respect to express all its diversity. Thus, Château Rauzan-Gassies produces elegant, fine and complex wines with intense color and velvety texture, characteristics of great wines for ageing.
